Mr Donald Adam
Consultant Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon, MD FRCSEd (Gen. Surg.)
Donald was appointed as a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon in 2004. He trained in the UK and South Australia, where he worked with fenestrated stent-grafting pioneer, Dr John Anderson.
His areas of expertise are: endovascular repair of complex abdominal, thoraco-abdominal and aortic arch aneurysms using fenestrated, thoraco-abdominal branch, arch branch, chimney and surgeon-modified fenestrated devices; and endovascular repair of aorto-iliac occlusive disease using stent-grafts.
He established the complex fenestrated and branch endovascular aortic programme in Birmingham which is now the largest in the UK and one of the largest in the World: the unit was the biggest user of Cook Medical’s custom-made fenestrated and thoraco-abdominal branch devices in Europe in 2014, 2015 and 2016. He has been a European mentor for fenestrated and branch endografts since 2009 and have visited over 25 UK and European vascular units to train surgeons and radiologists in these advanced techniques.
Donald is on the specialist register of the General Medical Council and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, a member of the Vascular Society of Great Britain & Ireland (VSGBI) and a council member of the British Society of Endovascular Therapy (BSET).
